How to Transfer a Car Title in Arizona

To introduce a car title in the state of Arizona, it’s a good idea to read these instructions, locate all the appropriate lines on the title, and read any instructions on the title before you start filling in the information. Note that Arizona titles must be notarized. This can be done at the Motor Vehicle Department or dealer’s offices. Don’t fill out the title until you get to the office, and bring photo identification with you. If you don’t, the notary cannot notarize your signature.

Turn to the back of your Arizona title and look near the top.

  1. Where it says “Name of the buyer (printed),” print the name of the person buying the car. Next to that, write in the date of the sale.
  2. Under that, enter the buyer’s address in the block that says “Street address.” Next are blocks for the seller’s city, state, and zip code.
  3. In the shaded block that says “Odometer reading,” enter the car’s current mileage. Make sure you check whether the mileage is in miles or kilometers.
  4. Where it says “Seller name (printed),” print the seller’s name. Look for the block to the right that says “Seller signature” and sign your name. Note that if two people are signing, they must fit their names in the same boxes.
  5. Under that, enter the seller’s address, city, state, and zip code in the appropriate blocks.
  6. Under the notary section, the buyer should print their name where it says “Buyer name (printed).” Next to that is a box where the buyer should sell their name. Again, if there are two buyers, they both need to fit their names in these small boxes.
