How to Transfer a Car Title in Missouri

To introduce a car title in the state of Missouri, it’s a good idea to read these instructions, locate all the appropriate lines on the title, and read any instructions on the title before you start filling in the information. The Missouri Department of Revenue provides complete instructions for completing the title on its website. This is a summary of their instructions.

  1. Turn to the back of your Missouri title and look near the top of the page.
  2. Print the buyer's name on the first line. Next to that, write the sale price of the vehicle in the appropriate box.
  3. On the next line, print the buyer’s full address. Next to that, write the value of any trade-in vehicle in the appropriate box.
  4. On the next line, write the following information in the appropriate boxes: date the vehicle was sold, vehicle model [skip the next box, which should be used by a car dealer only], and the net price of the vehicle if applicable (this is the sale price of the car minus the value of the trade-in vehicle).
  5. On the next line, write in the car’s current mileage.
  6. Where it says “Signature(s) of all purchaser(s),” all individuals who are purchasing the vehicle should sign their names. Next to that, all individuals who are selling the vehicle should sign their names.
  7. On the next line, all individuals purchasing the vehicle should print their names, and next to that, all individuals selling the vehicle should print their names.
