How to Transfer a Car Title in Oregon

To introduce a car title in the state of Oregon, it’s a good idea to read these instructions, locate all the appropriate lines on the title, and read any instructions on the title before you start filling in the information.

Turn to the back of your Oregon car title and look near the middle.

  1. In the small box that says “Date of sale,” enter the vehicle’s sale date. Immediately under that, enter the vehicle’s current mileage.
  2. Look to the right of those boxes. Where it says “Buyer’s printed name,” the buyer should print their name. Note that if two people are buying the car, they must fit their names on that line. Immediately under that, the buyer should print their full address.
  3. There are three lines where any vehicle owner can print and sign their name. All owners should fill in their information in the appropriate boxes.
  4. If the seller’s current address differs from the address listed on the title, the seller must fill in their new address where it says “Seller’s address (if different than on the front of the title).”
  5. The buyer(s) should print their name(s) on the next line. Immediately to the right, the buyer(s) should sign their name(s).
