How to Transfer a Car Title in Vermont

To introduce a car title in the state of Vermont, it’s a good idea to read these instructions, locate all the appropriate lines on the title, and read any instructions on the title before you start filling in the information.

Turn to the back of your Vermont car title and look near the top.

  1. Enter the name(s) of the buyers on the first line.
  2. On the next line, enter the buyer’s street address, city, county, state and zip code on the appropriate lines. Print the date the vehicle was sold on the last line in that row.
  3. On the next empty, enter the vehicle’s current mileage.
  4. Where it says “Seller’s signature,” the seller should sign their name. Immediately next to this line, where it says “Printed name,” the seller(s) should print their name(s). On the line next to that, they should print the date they are signing the document.
  5. If the vehicle is currently owned by two people, the second owner can sign and print their names on the appropriate lines in the next row.
  6. On the next line, the buyer(s) should sign their name(s). If two people currently own the car and are selling it, both of them need to fit their names on this line. Immediately next to this line, the buyer should print the date they are signing the document.
