To transfer a car title in the state of Wisconsin, it’s a good idea to read these instructions, locate all the appropriate lines on the title, and read any instructions on the title before you start filling in the information. Transferring a car title is an important part of the process when you junk a car in Wisconsin.
On the front of your Wisconsin title is a colored box. That’s where you will fill in all your information. The text is divided into two columns.
In the first column:
- Print your name where it says “SELLER.”
- If you’ve moved since your car title was issued, you’ll need to fill in your new address where it says, “Print seller address, city, state, and zip if different than shown above.”
- Print the buyer’s name where it says “BUYER.”
- Please print the seller’s address where it says, “Print seller’s address, city, state, and zip.”
In the second column:
- Write in an odometer reading that says, “Odometer now reads (no tenths).”
- Under that is a short disclosure. Sign your name by the “X” under the disclosure. Add the date at the end of the same line.
You must make a brand disclosure only if your vehicle received floor damage, was totaled, or was used as a police car or taxi. The brand disclosure information is in the first column. For more information about brand disclosures, click here.
