To introduce a car title in the state of New Jersey, it’s a good idea to read these instructions, locate all the appropriate lines on the title, and read any instructions on the title before you start filling in the information.
- Turn to the back of your New Jersey car title and look near the top. There is a small blank line where you can write the vehicle’s current mileage.
- Look for a small colored rectangle that says “Buyer’s name.” Right next is a line where the buyer can print their name. Next to that is a line where the buyer should fill in their driver’s license number.
- Where it says “Buyer’s address,” write the street address on the top line and the city, state, and zip code on the bottom.
- If a second person will own the vehicle, they should fill in their name and address near the colored rectangle that says “Co-buyer’s name.” They should also write down their driver’s license number on the line to the right of the page.
- Look for the colored rectangle that says “Seller’s name.” The seller should print their name on the first line and write their address on the following two lines.
- The seller should write the following information on the appropriate lines to the right of these lines: the Date the vehicle was sold and the sale price.
- By the colored rectangle that says “Seller sign here,” the person selling the car should print their name. On the line under that, they should sign their name.
- If a second person is releasing their ownership interest in the vehicle, they can print and sign their name on a set of lines to the right.
- By the colored rectangle that says “Buyer sign here,” the buyer should print their name on the first line and sign their name on the second line. If there is a second person purchasing the car, they can print and sign their name on a set of lines to the right.
A YouTube user filmed a video demonstrating how to fill out a New Jersey title. It may be worth watching if you need a quick tutorial; however, make sure the title shown in the video has all the same lines as yours so you aren’t putting information in the wrong place.
